L methylfolate is a naturally occurring salt-forming methyl derivative of folic acid, also known as levomethylfolic acid. Tt is the most bioactive and functional form of folic acid and is easier to be absorbed than normal folic acid. Normal folic acid must be converted to L-methylfolic acid in order to participate in two major metabolic pathways: methylation and DNA synthesis. The only form of free folic acid usually present in human plasma and cells is l methylfolate.

S Adenosyl methionine is a kind of physiological active molecule existing in all tissues and body fluids of human body. It is involved in important biochemical reactions in vivo as a precursor of methyl donor (transmethylation) and physiological sulfur compounds (such as cysteine, taurine, glutathione and coenzyme A).
